Imo, CSG has extensive, seriously logistically difficult drainage water/surface disposal issues to resolve.

Imo, the ground water issues associatred with a well managed UCG operation are insigificant in comparison.

Part of the reason is that CSG extraction is regionally extensive and requires regional drainage of coal seams from which gas is to be extracted ... in fact, 20 times more area is required to extract the same energy from a coal seam by CSG compared to UCG.

Mmmmmmm let me think about it .... for every 1 football field of deep seated groundwater monitoring/management with UCG, there would be 20 football fields of coal seam drainage and surface water disposal to deal with ... gee, its a conundrum 8))
