i don't think it is so much that, as it is an excuse to justify an action (agenda).
children are not stupid i wish that my old man had a few talks with me when i was a kid and adolescent about some of the facts of life. that is what needs to be addressed. so yes, many parents are ignorant in certain basic aspects. responsibility needs to be reclaimed from the church and state. a culture of lazyness just creates more problems.
