Surely the cheaper option would have been to request a trading halt for some made up or insignificant reason and then go into suspension.
The amount of manipulation that has been apparently done by management - surely they could have strung asx along for a while.... You know - something like 'sorry folks negotiations are taking long than expected'

Very expensive and very damaging to the company's reputation - who's going to have faith in a board that lets us get the n this situation?
