But none of what you say is true! The ZED does not respond to voids, if it did then it would respond when the coil is lifted or over the hole and it obviously doesn't, and a DD doesn't perform better on small gold than a mono of the same size as the DD TX or RX winding. In this case the mono responds at the circumference and a DD also responds at the circumference of the RX coil but only where the to-&-from signal is the shortest, at the overlap. We are talking some very obvious stuff here.
