Seems like somewhat hopeful imaginings...
I doubt that Rudd has the clout and support to manage to lever the union bosses away from their stranglehold on control of the labor party even over a 10 year lifespan...
The labor party now is not much more than a career path step for a lucrative taxpayer funded retirement that takes the liability for the retirement/hush-money payoff for aging and useless union thugs away from the union bosses and transfers it to the taxpayers...
Many of these union thugs now miraculously laundered into out political labor party leaders are likely to have detailed and extensive knowledge of where the many union-boss skeletons are buried and expensive lifestyles... Their knowledge coupled with an obvious disregard for legalities could probably could be leveraged into massive and continual blackmail payoffs from the union bosses to buy their continuing silence...
Rather than the union-bosses make these payoffs for silence it does seem that the taxpayer is now on the hook for the hush-money payoff to protect the union bosses and allow these union thugs to continue their lavish lifestyles...
Rudd is hardly up to untangling this union-boss mess of their tentacles deep into the labor party structure for many, many years to come...
