I don't necessarily hold a candle for Chris Creighton. As I said, I've investigated him way back in Dec 2011 in anticipation of needing something someday. There is a lot more I know about him but it doesn't add or detract from his performance.
My key point is that he seems to have done many things I consider desirable in a senior executive; one of which is to stay clear of the politics of Melbourne, Amsterdam and Milton Keynes.
He seems to know how to sell paper for a profit.
If Price is successful, that will be two proven paper salesmen amongst 12-15 senior execs. UK & Europe businesses are shambolic, morale is lower than a snakes belly ..etc I could go on.
The last time the Board had any "knowledge" of paper wholesaling was 2004 when Waterworth, ex MD Spicers, resigned.
Since then they've relied upon buffons like Marchant. I realise that management skills are transferable, but it does help to have some industry/product knowledge.
How Boon et al cannot see this staggers me.
