Surely the pricing power in the industry would lie with the farmers?
This couldnt be furthur from reality unfortunately. As farmers we are price takers not price setters. Simplistically speaking we grow the produce then accept the price the purchaser sets. Obviously there are marketing options available in various forms but we still accept a price set by some other party.
