My personal experience is that grandparents care for their grandchildren to help their children save for their home deposit because home affordability is becoming very difficult:

The more difficult it becomes for our kids to buy their own homes, imo we will see grandparents making more and more sacrifices to help their kids, either by providing child care or having their kids live at home while they save.
