US steel import permit applications for June totalled 2,965,000 net tons (nt), based on the Commerce Dept.’s most recent Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) data. This was a 12.4% increase from the 2,637,000 permit tons recorded in May and a 17.5% increase from the May final imports total of 2,523,000 nt.

Its the low grade iron ore that will be the first to slide in price, high grade especially pellets is becoming the most desirable product.
