In last 3 decades how many times did banks cut dividends or stop paying entirely? If they reduced the dividends & you don't know why, seems u have certainly been living in a cave last 18 months...

Further SP re-rate doesn't depend on divi's but on companies NTA, forward production projections & future growth plans... The divi plays a small part not large... & SP will depreciate once divi is paid, so its 1 step forward and 1 step back... Though the divi check looks good in the bank but its just like a illusion, SP will have depreciated in similar amount or more.. Tomorrow GRR pays 40c dividend, what will happen to the SP? Is that how SP re-rates? Need to have bit of a think than chasing dividend like a blind goose...

Recent gains from mid 20s to 50s isn't from divi's but is combination of rise of pellet price & increase of NTA.... Instead of focus on divi's to return 10% etc, SP appreciation could deliver 50-100% returns if divi is not paid or conservative divi is paid and cash is utilized on future growth plans...
