Ignoring the factual errors about missing links etc, all attempts that I have seen to date that try to replace God with some kind of independent cosmic consciousness display all the of the same types of problems that believers in biological evolution do. It's OK to fantasise about one bit making two bits and adding to itself (a-la evolution) but there is NO evidence that that is the case just as there is NO evidence that biological evolution happened that way either. What you're describing is that some people can see that there is more to life than mere physicality, they are not ready to give up their beliefs about the non existence of God/s so they concoct materialist theories to account for this other realm.

So while it's all very interesting it is, like pretty much all Godless theories, ultimately intellectually unsatisfying.
