All the excitement about the new gas reserve levels should make people think about two things:
1. Magically the reserves that are considered 2p and 3p have doubled and remember that there is a long gap between gas being 3p and becoming 2p do be sold.
2. Origin has a large retail gas and electricity position and the upstream position is meant to cover this to some extent.
directing the gas off shore will depreciatte the retail business!
That being said the splitting of the business into two entities is a logical step to avoid this conflict of interest in the long term!
