Graphene has become the conjuror's flim-flam of the graphite industry. Time after time we see managers of graphite compamies talking of the wonders of graphene (and they really are genuine wonders), but never once do we see anybody relating this to the world market for graphite. GA is the latest to join this club.

The reason is simple. They all know that, because graphene is used in such thin layers, the consumption is very, very small. Have you ever heard of a graphene application using a thousand tonnes of the product? Of course not. It is used in grams, and fractions of a gram.

But the world uses about a million tonnes of graphite a year. That's vastly more than all the graphene applications ever talked about. Think about the simple arithmetic.

Will graphene ever represent ten percent of the world graphite market? Nope.

Will graphene ever represent one percent of the world graphite market? Nope.

It is being used as a distraction from the harsh realities of competing in the market.

    Cheers, Prime1
