Let's not get carried away here. The molecules in mineral oil are quite a bit larger than the holes in graphene - and most of the additives in the oil are bigger again.
But the possibilities for low-cost, low-energy desalination - IF it really works, as claimed - would be enormous. How much more land could we irrigate? How much more food could we produce?
(And how long before the whole project was attacked by the environmental movement?)
