Sodium-ion batteries are at an early-research stage. The writer of the article, who appears to have little or no technical background, claims hopefully that sodium-ion batteries are only about ten years behind lithium-ion. Zero evidence is given to support this estimate, which looks like a finger-in-the-air figure, produced by an optimistic journalist. The reality is that completion of the research, followed by engineering development, followed by qualification of the product by users, looks likely to take far longer than that.
