A little-known Melbourne mining company is the talk of the Australian Securities Exchange, with its share price more than doubling today.

Africa-focused graphite miner Syrah Resources has soared more than 106 per cent today to $1.93 based on the preliminary results of a single drill hole.

In results the company dubbed "exceptional”, Syrah said it has intersected more than 287 metres of graphite at its Balama project in Mozambique.

    Maybe there is still hope?
