When natural graphite is processed into spherical graphite, a format essential for lithium-ion battery anodes, the value increases substantially to around A$12,000 to A$16,500 per tonne (US$8,000 to $11,000).Synthetic graphite, often derived from petroleum coke, can command even higher prices.
