Grassy Mountain Approval - Project Next Door

I emailed the Canadian body that is working on the grassy mountain proposal next door. It looks like there is about 450 days until the project is approved or rejected - this is their response - it’s good to know time line - hopefully it can be sped up. If they get approval our shares will rocket

Thank you for your email inquiring about the timeframe of the Grassy Mountain Coal Project. The Joint Review Panel Agreement outlines the Terms of Reference and the steps for the environmental assessment process, and can be viewed at the following link: https://www.iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/document/124445?&culture=en-CA(CIAR #80).

The Joint Review Panel shall fulfill its mandate and submit its report to the Federal Minister of the Environment within 520 days (initial 430 days + 90-day extension) following the date of establishment of the Joint Review Panel (August 16, 2018). This 520-day does not include the time periods the proponent will take to gather information required for the environmental assessment. As of today, the Joint Review panel has used 227 of the 520 days.


The timeline for the decision statement is 150 days from the submission of the Joint Review Panel’s Report. The decision statement will indicate the decision of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, or the Governor in Council, regarding whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse effects, and whether any significant adverse environmental effects are justified in the circumstances. In other words, the decision statement will outline whether the Minister or Governor in Council will approve or reject the project.
