Any hope of independence is balanced on tackling its health issues and one of the largest sectors in Greenland’s economy – fishing and mining uranium.

The underlying common denominator of almost the entire polulation is independence from Denmark.
Those words were written 2018, nothing changed.

What we see now developing are demands for home loan arrangements, helped by the compnay for its workers, at least 49% of local workers employed by the company etxc.
The politicians play hard ball to extract as much gain out of this endeavour for themselves and the commnity as possible.
This is highly expected.


Will they deny themselves their ONLY path to independence ?
Hardly.

There is no way around it, GML is the most advanced company to produce meaningful
revenue and royalties for the Greenlandic government to tackle problems of high unemployment, an ageing population which needs to be looked after, a decaying economy and demographic in Narsaq.

We are in a phase of posturing and this will go on for some time yet.
Do the main parties really want this to fail and foreign investment to dry up because it becomes evident that Greenland is not ready for business?
Other companies will pull out.

Independence would be an impossibility.

That is the question they need to debate.


You say, if not now, then later.
That is not correct.
The Biden administration pushes for new mines and processing plants away from China, so does Europe.
If Greenland is not open for business the once in a century opportunity to be part of the renewable energy paradigm shift will be lost.
The big economies will have found their supply elsewhere.
Once supply lines are in place, they last, as in our case, for a very long period, 37 years initially for GML.
