The principal activity of the company is the manufacture, distribution and sale of zirconium related chemicals and related materials via Shenyang Astron Mining Industry Limited (100% China subsidiary). ZIRCON PRODUCTS The company imports 30-40,000 tonnes of zircon annually and sells various grades of zircon, zircon flour and zirconium silicate for use in the ceramic industry, TV tubes, glass casting refactory and chemical industries. ZIRCONIA AND ZIRCONIUM CHEMICALS High quality zirconias are imported and basic zirconium chemicals are processed in the company's factories and exported. These products are used in the ceramic, colour electronic, jewellery, paper, leather and paint industries as well as for chemical catalysts, in vehicle exhausts, catalytic converters and heat resistant abrasive coatings and advanced ceramic applications.
