Here is a real good article for those who have a little time and are looking for really good-in-depth DD about "specialty metals" (including REEs)...
The discussion really focusses on Oz in depth as it discusses why Oz is geologically superior for many of these metals (even though the entire continent is on a crash course with California ;~) ...
It also is excellent on macro level also... It discusses the political and economic stability advantages of Oz...
