    Sad reality #1: Soldiers do not win wars by dying for their country. They win wars by ensuring that the enemy soldier has the opportunity of dying for his country.

    Sad reality #2:
    The most effective way of demoralizing a population is to destroy the infrastructure of a country and kill lots of civilians. Civilians are a safer target because they are unarmed. Look at the US attack on Libya. When food sanctions were applied to Libya, the Libyan Government increased its effort to use underground water to grow crops. This became a thriving industry. The first targets by US forces was to attack the water pipelines, water bores and the factories that made irrigation pipes. Hungry people are upset people.

    Sad reality #3:
    Women want equality in the defence forces - until a war breaks out. Then there is a sudden rush of female soldiers becoming prospective mothers.
