Hi
@thermocouple
I posted a couple of comments yesterday about the StackPath tweet and another article where it didn't seem clear to me what TV2U was trying to achieve with StackPath. Did a bit more research since then and, although the picture is still not crystal clear, I think I have a rough idea what they're trying to do.
I doubt StackPath, as a company, would be interested in acquiring or investing in TV2U. Their five mergers/acquisitions so far have been in companies very much in their line of business, i.e. network management and associated software. Diversifying into a business like TV2U is not what I would consider a typical/strategic expansion approach. Judging by the past of their founder and CEO, Lance Crosby, I suspect he would be positioning StackPath for a takeover by a major corporation (his last company was bought by IBM) not the other way around. The company is still majority owned by its founder with a minority external investor (ABRY Partners).
I can however imagine Lance Crosby (or another executive like Andrew Higginbotham) considering investing personally in TV2U and eventually having a seat on the Board. I think such investment and expertise would be great for TV2U. I share
@Kristian333 view on having a cashed up investor taking a moderate stake in TV2U. Not sure however that such is their intention and their interest at this stage can be limited to a commercial deal with TV2U.
StackPath's last acquisition however, MaxCDN, can be relevant to TV2U's white label approach. I do not understand (yet!) how that would be implemented technically and commercially, but if you browse MaxCDN website you can get a rough idea of how that would potentially fit with a TV2U white label approach. The MaxCDN website states "Provider of a content delivery network. The company's platform allows different companies to initiate static and dynamic content. It maintains regional edge servers where customer files are replicated in multiple locations around the world." I could imagine all sorts of implementations, some oriented towards corporations, but they will be simply speculative and I don't want to add confusion. We have to wait for a clear announcement from TV2U to make sense of all this, assuming that there is more than just talk behind all this.
