Greater capex - as stated by MD it's cheaper. Also 40m for 3kt lmax plant would be 270 ish for lithium plant for 21 kt. So not greater, less
Higher maintenance - trivial
Less environmentally friendly - because working with and disposing of sulfuric acid is so good for the planet vs a 800 degree roast, not to mention the human dangers working with acids fulstop.
