Back on the original topic...yes, PubMed is the main searchable database I use, it has pretty much every medical journal in the world referenced there with abstracts for most articles.
In terms of patents, I'm lazy right now to look it up but my understanding is that they recently got a patent on the use of multiple cassettes for shRNA knockout and given that that is the way to go for most practical ddRNAi they have effectively extended the patent out for many years....big Pharma will be waiting a llloooonnnggg time for that to expire, so they'll just have to cough up the royalty fees. Bad luck Pfizer, Merck and GSK et al!
We may well see 1 cent, and then I'll be buying more. But I could not live with myself if a 100 million dollar deal came through tomorrow and I was out of the stock. Given Pharmasset just got taken over for 11 billion that is not unrealistic. So it could go either way in the short term, and my punt is that it will go screamers in the longer term.
