Extending patients is not unheard of. I think I am right in saying that only recently Roche had its patent on Enbrel extended in the US by 17 years. I am not sure of the circumstances but maybe BLT should get their patent lawyers to take a look at this decision and see if there are any grounds they can use to extend BLT's core patents.
