Share price out-performance year to date was driven by macro events (FX and interest rates)but those two drivers had a sting in the tail as evidenced by careful reading of the half year accounts eg there are no US$ earnings to benefit from a falling A$ and a falling AU$ punches a big hole in capital as most of debt funding is in US$...
The market has now tweeked as to how potentially bad the LPI business is turning out to be and the ongoing blow out in prior year loss provisions is unlikely to stop any time soon, there is never just one coackroach...these revisions tend to go one for several years in insurance companies...
2013 will be another very slow burn, with early 2014 the time to re-enter...stay short for now...
