The 19-page response also contained private personal and medical information of its residents, much of which is refuted by the residents in question.

Many of the allegations in the Aveo response were made publicly available before those specific residents had a chance to air their complaints.

Aveo would not say if it had permission from the residents to air their personal and medical records.

"Aveo takes the privacy of its residents very seriously and complies with its privacy obligations when handling their personal information (including sensitive information such as about their health)," the company said in a statement.

"Aveo has sought to provide full and frank answers to the detailed questions it was asked, while also taking care to ensure that none of these residents are identified or are identifiable in its answers. Therefore, to the extent that any limited health information is outlined, it is not personal information about an identified person and Aveo is able to disclose it."

Gerard Brody from the Consumer Action Law Centre was surprised that Aveo had published the information.

"It's really worrying. They should have specific consent to use personal information for not the primary purpose," Mr Brody said.

"And talking about it on a public platform like the ASX is probably not the primary purpose, I would have thought."
