I agree with both @87crash and @Sharespike, although you can't rule this out as a possibility in 2-3yrs time.

I've run a 10kw solar panel system on my house for 2yrs. Last year i put a fronious smart meter on the system.  Since then, my bills have decreased by 20-30%.   I put this down to the visual displays such as the ones below being seen by my family members and in turn us changing our behavior. (Note, i don't have a battery - waiting for the tech to improve). I've also used the data to discuss inaccurate bills with my energy provider which were later rectified.

This product is good. Although can only imagine the sexy product Buddy would build if they were to enter the residential space.
