The problem with Australia's welfare system is that it is divisive with some getting greater assistance than others based on their backgrounds, rather than their assets or income. The aged pension is barely survivable imo, but have a huge family and you can live like a king without the necessity of paid employment.
We pay taxes from cradle to grave in this country, so why complain about the welfare system, when it is the ever evolving and increasing government bureaucracies that is sucking us dry, along with the red tape that follows.
