    G'day
I recognise that the way the laws are sometimes enforced could be tweaked. There are definately times they are over zealously applied. eg I think where only small tolerances of a few kph's are allowed, the speed should be measured over a distance. Current car engineering doesn't allow drivers to set speeds so accurately that they can avoid brief indiscretions.
However, the laws are generally reasonable and the do need to be enforced. A large part of the population incorrectly believe they are good drivers and incorrectly believe it's ok to go faster than the law allows. Perhaps better education would help
The govt in south oz caved in to the pressure brought to bear back in the early 90's. It was a disaster, average speeds, accident rates, and road deaths sky rocketed in that brief period. It was mayhem
After the speed cameras were re introduced, speeds, accidents and road deaths settled back to "normal"
Letting the low skilled, ill informed sector of the public use the road as a time machine (leave late and arrive on time) is NOT the way to go.
    All in my informed opinion

    cheers
    Rod
