I was referring to the ordinary employees.
Alan Joyce deserves a pay rise as he is under paid compared to other CEO's (fact).
Normal Qantas employees are clearly over paid and should have their pay and conditions reduced.
Over the past 10 years, air fares have gone down, competition has fiercely increased, airline profits have been savaged... yet wages and conditions have steadily improved.
The Union is a well oiled muscle machine that has thousands of members, each contributing hundreds of dollars each year. The Union has to be seen to be doing something to 'return an investment to their members'.
The problem is that many a Qantas employee have been around for too long and don't see the commercial reality of the situation, and don't see the impact and damage the Union demands have created over the years.
Employees just don't get it, and amazes me - best paid wages and conditions by far in Australia + increased demands = "let's move operations offshore".
