Well, fewer and fewer people are going to mess around with owning a rental property that will be the outcome.

Here in Qld the ALP wants new laws regarding rental properties.. The proposals include allowing a tenant to paint walls and hang pictures from nails they whack in to a wall. All they will need to do is ask their property manager for permission to do so.

If the tenant does not receive a NO from the property manager within 43 weeks they can knock them selves out painting and banging in picture hooks. Does not matter that the property owner may be away on holidays and therefore does not receive request.

Just that when the tenant moves out the owner will very likely be stuck with a total internal repaint of his property.

They want to abolish a landlord’s right to not renew a tenancy agreement at the end of its agreed term.

What these knuckleheads do not understand is that is that people are not stupid...they will just stop buying residential investment properties.

The Government cannot get anywhere near supplying enough State owned housing so it will force rents upwards...
