Some excellent insights. And links to some good commentary. As I indicated in my original post, I am more interested in reading about the consequences of what seems to be the inevitable - a default. But in saying that, the consequences of a default seem "unthinkable" in the words of one of the above links.
And just something in addition to what has been said above - my reading indicates there is a culture of corruption, tax evasion, and a sense of entitlement to government largesse that would need to be overcome if everything else was simple. No small task!!
