Current lies is paid for by taxpayers and consumers of power/goods claiming to come from carbon free power. Companies buying credits and accounting on a yearly basis of "Green" power is clearly a fudging on the numbers. Huge amounts of Solar at peak /seasonal times getting credits sold via USA name is Renewable Power Credits-REC, EU used GOE Guarantees of Origin, UK- Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs). The Credits applied at time there is no or not enough solar, wind... power! The account fraud is clear.

UK -The Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) scheme provides transparency to consumers about the proportion of electricity that suppliers source from renewable electricity.
This scheme provides certificates called REGOs which demonstrate electricity has been generated from renewable sources.
Hats off to the UK as in includes accounting for Nuclear non carbon power!One REGO certificate is issued per megawatt hour (MWh) of eligible renewable output to generators of renewable electricity.
The primary use of REGOs in Great Britain and Northern Ireland is for Fuel Mix Disclosure (FMD). FMD requires licensed electricity suppliers to disclose to potential and existing customers the mix of fuels (coal, gas, nuclear, renewable and other) used to generate the electricity supplied.

UK allows the green washing via yearly accounting! "The Electricity (Fuel Mix Disclosure) Regulations 2005 (SI 2005 No. 391) introduced a requirement on all electricity suppliers in Great Britain to disclose to their customers the mix of fuels used to generate the electricity supplied annually, provided that electricity is supplied for a full disclosure period (1 April – 31 March). Suppliers must disclose this information by 1 October annually.This regulation was introduced into electricity suppliers’ standard licence conditions (SLC), and is now SLC 21.
