The deal was not straight cash, i believe they had approx. 475 million cash in hand at the time however, the deal was more a joint venture with rockwood contributing $194 million, tianqi $200 million.
Rockwood also supplies a approx 670 million 2 year secured loan facility at 8%.
Tianqi also received equity options for 20% 30% in Rockwood EU at some future date and price.... Not sure if they took the option seeing as Rockwood got taken out a year or so later for $6 billion.
