Mineral exploration in a Greenfields Agricultural area was always fraught with the possibility that sooner or later some mining company would locate minerals and in Rex's case big enough to develop a mine .
Of the 260 submissions and 5 confidential submissions (population Yorke and mid north 76,324) that the (CCG ) Community Consultative Group in regard to a (MLP) Mining Lease Proposal these people most probably should have protested even before one drill was struck . Rex have addressed each farmers individually and spoken to the them one on one. This has been a massive undertaking by Rex and they have done everything in their power to address everyones concerns and to reassure them that everything possible will be done to protect the many square kilometres of the Yorke Peninsula , 35,300 square kilomtres or threabouts. Rex needs about 4 square kilometres of that to develop a mine and it will be on its own land previously purchased from a consenting farmer.
I think that Rex will do the right thing and hopefully the benefits to the man on the land and the community will far outweigh any environmental issues if any in the long run. As my research reveals that the Farmer and Miner have coexisted in this part of the world for many years and no one has been disadvantaged in the past due to the coexistance.
I believe that the 260 submissions will be dealt with and acted upon by Rex Minerals will create many benefits to all the Community on the Yorke Peninsula.
Hope the Regulator is getting close to a decision in this matter as it has been a long time . It was nice to see that the top shareholders are still holding firm and in the case of Acorn have increased their holding. Hope the Chairman gives the shareholders another update soon.
