Reducing the fuel load by burning is one method of management . The problem is there is only a small window of opportunity to do it . Too wet - it won't burn , too dry- it's dangerous . It's impossible to burn the whole state .
One thing I am amazed at is that people have been allowed to build on ridges in inaccessible country . It's a recipe for disaster . I was at such a place on Sunday . The hills are too steep to build on so the homes are concentrated on the ridge lines . The most dangerous place to be .
