Your post made me genuinely laugh out loud. So thanks for that.
Secondly, this is very very clever.
So clever in fact, they should actually add it to their various materials. And you should get a couple thousand shares in thanks.
Its a genuine concern for many, including myself. (The environment). And you raise a very valid point. But you can go one further. Because your not just saving the batteries.
Your saving needing the remote controls all together. And the car keys. And the GPS. And a million other devices we use. I already use my phone to control various things. And as my GPS. And to stream to and from etc etc etc.
But I use a bunch of different apps. And different connecting peripherals. When I'm working on a site somewhere I have a radio. With a propriety made bluetooth connetable device. That I can then connect my phone to. To stream and control it. Just another example.
Its all a MASSIVE pain in the posterior. It costs me a lot of money to set up each new thing. and I need to use all sorts of different apps to do so. With the Roku I need to make sure my phone is connected to the same wifi router as the roku. But I use different routers for different things so I have to switch back and forward. More nightmare.
This is the base concept of the Xped devices and systems. To make it easier and more affordable.
But you have just come up with one of the biggest missed opportunities in marketing that Xped has overlooked.
There are a heap of things that would never need to be even made now. The chip in the new devices, sound systems, cars, home alarms, medical equipment. Would negate the need for MILLIONS of other devices. It would make manufacturing much much cheaper as they would do away with many many things while selling the same products with enhanced functionality.
The general public is already accustomed to trying to use their phones to do everything. We even pay for things with them now. So they are well and truly ready for the idea.
But the environmental ramifications are phenomenal. Great idea all round.
