You would probably know more about it than me, i didn't follow it, just that such things usually come down to geotechnical studies on safety and the like.
It was unstable and probably should never have been developed - using hindsight rhetoric of course.
Unfortunately, it will never be know as to whether or not the mountain could ever have been mined safely.
I do pity the families and men involved - a tragedy.
