The flaw in this discussion about DDT is that it is still being used as one of the means of controlling disease-carrying mosquitoes (mainly in areas where mosquitoes have not become resistant to DDT).

DDT was banned for agricultural purposes under the Stockholm Convention six years ago, but has always been permitted for disease vector control. The various bans have been based on scientific evidence of the unintended harmful effects of DDT, not on claims made in a popular book.
