It's not remotely representative ,that's just self evident.

The proportionate elective measurements are completely flawed , to suggest that a larger proportion of the electorate would have the people they didn't vote for determining the outcome of legislation is ,to put it mildly ,idiotic. Of course they wouldn't want that otherwise they would've voted for them.

As for what you were saying about more normal ordinary people in a room ,whatever nonsense, they're politicians the same as any other ,but on the fringe and generally propped up by parties who have no hope of winning a seat or enough votes to form a Government or an Opposition under any circumstances. Therefore ,totally unrepresentative.

I'm happy for them to be there in some capacity ,but as the end determinant of whether a lawful government can govern ,well that's a bit too much power for someone who gets hardly any votes.

The Senate system in this country has been rorted for a long time ,the latest batch who've been shoe horned in there shows the system up for how barren it is . Besides which to have people of obviously low intellect positioned there because they're in a line in a fringe party to disrupt normal government business ,or opposition for that matter ,just shows how deficient the system is
