I do not see how the Senator is incorrect in her observation.
"Out-dated stereotypes about girls and boys and men and women, perpetuate gender inequality"
[which she then goes onto explain the consequences of] "very serious problems such as domestic violence and the gender pay gap".
The Senator did not make a link of toys to domestic violence or pay gap, but rather to perpetuating gender inequality and then she identified two consequences of gender inequality: domestic violence and the gender pay gap.
There are actually two ideas being discussed in her observation (which comes down to poor structure by creating confusion around the point she's trying to argue).
