Just remember where marriage came from. The only people a few centuries ago who got married where the wealthy. It was a means of controllinbg what happend to the family money when the "old geaser" died. It was part of ensuring it stayed in the family and passed down. The didn't bother marrying as they had no assets to protect. Marriage had nothing to do with children directly.
