I had a flatmate once who used to rage on about "poofters" - he shared a room with his girlfriend and they had been going out for a number of years. Turned out that the bed was the only thing he shared as they only had the initial consummation so to speak. Yes, just the once. Turned out he was gay and could not come to terms with it.
The greens are simply promoting a change in legislation that will eliminate discrimination against homosexual Australians. We are not Saudi Arabia or Iran - it is about time that all Australians had equal rights. Then we may see an end to individuals living a lie and the associated suicides.
I have three kids. I would like them to be heterosexual and have kids of their own like me. But, if one is homosexual, the most important thing is that he or she lives their life, not the life I would prefer for them. We only have one life and we all deserve to live that free from discrimination and persecution.
