China is expected to retaliate against Japan for these new restrictions. Some are speculating that China might hit Japan with rare earth export restrictions similar to those it imposed on Japan back in 2010. Things could be about to heat up for REEs. Alternatively, it might prove to be nothing. Either way, it's worth keeping an eye on, IMO.
