I just spent 1/2 an hour typing a reply, and my computer decided to 'lose' it.

    So an abridged version.

MORE plastic will go to landfill as the bags we buy to fit our bins,

contain MORE plastic than the shopping bags.

Downsizing products, at the same cost, is something most

shoppers wouldn't even be aware of.

Ceasing to hand out "free" bags, that we're already paying for,

under the guise of saving the environment, utter rubbish, (literally).

Never, ever, used a S.S. checkout. People get paid to do checkout duties,

    I don't.

And as long as (people are people), using their own bags,

instead of the ones that used to be racked up, ready to go,

    checking out will be slower.

    Even going trolley/checkout/trolley is slower.

Once items were scanned, shoppers would pick up a bag with 6 or so items in them,

but now have to pick up each item individually again, and return them to the trolley,

    to pack later.

Multiply these minor delays, by (x) amount of shoppers, by 52 weeks a year,

they're going to have to employ more checkout operators.

    Who will pay for them?
