CONSTRUCTION of Isabel senior secondary school at Garanga, Isabel Province, will start soon following a ground breaking ceremony last week.
Isabel Provincial Premier James Habu said that ground work had started. “Construction work should start in a few months once a building contractor is identified,” Mr Habu said.
Isabel Senior Secondary School is co-funded by Isabel Provincial Government and the Anglican Diocese of Isabel.
Mr Habu said a tender notice will be issued to identify the right contractor for the job.
He said the province would also engaged carpentry students from Garanga Vocational Centre in the construction process.
Meanwhile, the Anglican Diocese of Isabel has provided $10,000 and Axiom KB $100,000 for the establishment of an interim organising committee for the school project.
The premier said the provincial contribution towards this school project will be determined this week when the provincial assembly meets to debate its $21million 2012 provincial budget.
The provincial assembly will start their meeting today.
Isabel Province Clerk to Assembly Erick Notere said the official opening of the budget sitting and declaration of government’s businesses started yesterday.
Mr Notere said first and second reading and general debate on the merit of the bill will be done today.
“We hope for the first, second reading and the general debate to take place before it goes through the committee of supply.”
The clerk said the third reading should take place tomorrow.
The budget if passed will cover all the provincial government’s plans and projects.
