The explanation letter with my insurance account did not explain the basis for the reduction in value. The letter repeated previous years letters that the valuation is based on the audited financial statements prepared by Quintis. However, it said these have not been prepared for 2017 and the insured value "is likely to be lower than last year's valuation because the recent events impacting Quintis are expected to impair the fair value of your sandalwood investment. A more detailed update will be sent to you once this valuation process has been finalised and audited".
