The gardening show on the ABC has been promoting the self same thing. Kostas did it at the front of his place and got the neighbours involved. The kids loved it and took ownership of certain plants etc., and because they had grown them, they were eating fruit and veg which previously they refused. What started as one strip ended up about 8 of them, with fruit trees etc. There were a few elderly people in the street who due to age or ill health were unable to physically help but their advise was invaluable. People who lived in the same street as strangers now became friends. Brilliant for the community. How many of your neighbours do you know, apart from the wave or quick hello ???
